5-24-08 -- Station 40 ~ Our home away from home in Fairfax. We like to think of this visit as the day we learned how to properly decon a bear full of pepper.
Here's what we learned ...
Step one ~ Pile into the Haz-Mat rig
Step two ~ Drive down to Ben & Jerry's for ice cream
Step three ~ Find willing volunteer to place bear at the center of a timed water fountain while the local community looks on applauding and cheering.
Step four ~ Mess with said volunteer until he is soaked.
Step five ~ Convince aforementioned volunteer that you missed the shot & have him do it again
Step five ~ And again
Step six ~ No, don't have the heart, can't make him do it again
Step seven ~ Give stunt bear some love
Step eight ~ Wring out stunt bear
Step nine ~ Stuff stunt bear into plastic bag
Step ten ~ Thank volunteer (Technician Brian Giller) profusely. This young hero earned a t-shirt & a coin! Well done!
Oh, and remember to get stunt bear out of dryer before departing for the airport.
Thank you to Station Captain Milton Painter and all of our gracious hosts at Station 40. It really does feel like coming home when we visit. Milt, sharing ice cream with you and talking in the evenings was just nice. Thank you for that. You have a great crew out there.
Captain Jim Perkins, had we not already had breakfast plans, we;d have stayed that was one of the best smells to wake up to! We has so much fun with you, What great positive attitudes!
By the way, it is official, you have been voted Best Smile! ( ;
Each shift was just as we would have wanted. We relaxed with the first and played with the next. It was perfect.
Hope you all enjoy the photos, we had fun taking them.
